A wonderful raw material, a natural gummy exudate, a hydrocolloid, known as Acacia gum as it is extracted from two species of sub-Saharan Acacia: Acacia Senegal and Acacia Seyal.
It is a product that comes from sub-Saharan Africa; the "Gum belt", so defined,
outlines the cultivation areas from Ethiopia to Senegal.
According to data from the National Forest Authority, the Gum Arabic Belt includes one-fifth of the area in Sudan.
Sudan is the largest producer of gum Arabic.
Gum Arabic is obtained by cutting the bark of the branch from the Acacia tree with a tool similar to a local hunting spear called "Sunki". The gum exudes and about three weeks later the first harvest is carried out.
This is done twice a year. (October and February-March).
It is classified as additive (E414)
It is considered a prebiotic fiber.
